Summer Session B, Grades 6 - 9 Mondays

Service Description

Classes at The Dreamer’s Desk will always focus on writing as a form of exploration, creativity, empathy and discovery. Each 6-week session will also have a unique focus or theme to inspire the poems and stories we will read together, and the prompts for new writing. During this 6-week session for Grades 6 – 9: The focus for this session will be ‘strong voices.’ We’ll be talking together about what a ‘strong voice’ is, and what this means for a writer. How does each young writer in the class define ‘strength?’ How about ‘voice?’ What can we say about the role listening and observing plays in strengthen our own voices, and how do we learn to share our voices on the page, to reflect what we really feel? Finally, how do we create with words (images, characters, dialogue, all that makes up a poem or story) what we can see so clearly in our imaginations? Prepare for some exciting, inspiring and truth-seeking stories in this class!
