Literary Journaling: Release

Service Description

The focus for the July session of Literary Journaling is 'release.' Have you ever felt the release that comes from naming an otherwise elusive experience or feeling? The release that comes from giving words to a restlessness, or longing, or love that has been stirring inside of you, searching for words? Have you known the sudden lightness that arises after looking a vague, persistent ache directly in the eyes, and setting it free, onto the page? If so, you know the freedom that comes from looking inside of yourself, gathering together the drifting, wordless, or foggy moments, and releasing them in prose, or poetry, or a hybrid, creative form developed for you, by you. If this release has previously escaped you, then all the more reason to join us on this month-long, self-paced, immersive and expressive writing course. This course will provide you the space, literary guidance and safety to reflect authentically, give language to your experiences, and release your truths into the world, while working at your own, private pace within a diverse community of like-minded seekers. Enrollment Includes: • A focus-specific excerpt from an essay, work of fiction, poem or meditation waiting for you in your inbox each morning, to inspire your day & motivate your writing. • A daily writing prompt to stir your imagination, wake your senses and hone your writing skills. • 3, 1-hour Zoom sessions. These sessions will each be comprised of a lecture, followed by an activity related to our theme of release. Video meetings will also be recorded for you if you are unable to attend at the scheduled time or wish to participate at your own speed. Zoom Sessions (A Zoom invitation will be emailed to students on June 5, the day prior to our first live session). July 6, 1 – 2, EST July 13, 1 – 2, EST July 20, 1 – 2, EST *Sessions scheduled for the mornings of July 1 and July 21 are not live on Zoom. These are just reminders for the start/end date of our course, when you will be receiving your first/ final offerings from me over email.
