Grades 6 - 9, Session A, Wednesdays

Service Description

Our theme for this 6-week session is ‘seeing.’ As we read and write together, we’ll be asking questions like: How closely do we need to look at something to write it truthfully, so that a reader can see it as clearly as we do? How do we uncover the magical side of language, to bring what we see vividly to life on the page? And finally, how can writing also help us see ourselves or our dreams more clearly? This will be a class full of wonder, curiosity and creation! ***Classes at The Dreamer’s Desk will always focus on writing as a form of exploration, creativity, empathy and discovery. Each 6-week session will then have a unique focus or theme to inspire the poems and stories we will read together, and the prompts for new writing. This theme will be shared across groups; while readings and prompts for classes grades 3 – 6 will be focusing on ‘seeing’ during Session A, so will classes for grades 6 – 9 and 9 – 12. The materials and discussions, however, will be developmentally appropriate for each unique group’s needs, and always accessible, vibrant and welcoming. Our goal for each student, regardless of grade or theme, is that they complete their time together with us with greater confidence in their skills as a writer, feel proud of their imaginations and voices, and believe in their unique abilities, talents and dreams, whatever they may be.
