Dream of a New Year: Pop-up Class

Service Description

As 2020 comes to a close and we are about to begin a new year, this special, pop-up class offering will ensure young people a space to reflect and dream freely on the page. They will ask themselves the questions that matter most: What challenges have they overcome throughout the last year? How are they feeling about their own imaginations? What words, images, longings and hopes have been stirring around in their minds? What do they most wish to dream into existence to celebrate the beginning of an entirely new year? During this session, we will begin by reading accessible poems together that focus on thoughtful reflections, fresh beginnings and the power of a vibrant dream to uplift and inspire. Young writers and dreamers will then have the option to join in a short meditation, crafted specifically for the purposes of our class, to help them visualize and clarify a dream of their own making. Finally, our group will be encouraged to write in whatever genre they choose as they open their imaginations and consider the ideas, people and places that bring them feelings of encouragement, joy and purpose. We will conclude with optional sharing time, and a huge cheers to welcome the new year!
